The VOID | Endurance Event

They say “getting there is half the fun.”

That is categorically untrue when you’re traveling to The VOID, fully aware that your fate (and possibly your dignity) awaits at the end of a long, dark tunnel.

Still… you have to get here.

And because we are nothing if not gracious hosts to your impending suffering, below you’ll find directions and nearby lodging options to make your journey smooth, comfortable, and deceptively pleasant.

Driving to The VOID

The VOID is 2 hours from Pittsburgh; 2 hours and 15 minutes from Washington D.C. and Baltimore and 3 hours from Philadelphia.

Most runners will approach via I-99 from the north, I-70 from the south and The PA Turnpike west and east to the Breezewood or Fort Littleton exits. From there, follow the winding backroads deeper into the Alleghenies until the trees grow taller, cell service fades, and your life choices become questionable.

The nearest regional airports are within driving distance, but renting a car is strongly advised unless you enjoy trail running straight off the plane.

You will want rest. You will need rest. You may not sleep.

Fortunately, there are several lodging options within a reasonable distance of the start/finish area:

Local hotels in nearby towns offer standard comforts: beds, showers, walls that are not covered in graffiti and feel like they move when you close your eyes.
Rustic cabins for those who prefer pre-race contemplation with forest ambiance.
Campgrounds for runners who want to get primative early.
Short-term rentals scattered throughout the region for those who require a kitchen to stress-bake the night before.
